CALLED OFF DUE TO POOR WEATHER
The next wild Spirit event takes place on Saturday the 7th May and will be Rock Climbing near Swanage.
We are meeting at the
Dancing Ledge car park (click on the link to view a map) from 0945 and will walk down to the climbing area at 1000 prompt.
Climbing equipment will be provided, just bring something to drink and wear clothes that will allow you to move around. Trainers or walking boots are suitable for climbing, they will almost certainly get scuffed so wear old ones.
The morning will consists of being to taught how to put on a harness, tie the rope to the harness and how to belay (control the rope to prevent a fall). This will be a practical session and people will take it in turns to climb or belay. I will also offer some advice on climbing techniques etc.
This will take us up to about 1230. Then we will have lunch at dancing ledge.
Then for those of you that wish we will walk along to Hedbury quarry, about 20 mins West of Dancing ledge. Where we will rig some higher and more interesting climbs for people to test out their new found climbing skills or just to show off.
We will aim to finish climbing at about 1600 and be back to the car park between 1630 and 1645.
Dancing ledge and Hedbury Quarry are both excellent places to learn to climb and suit all abilities, Hedbury has the easiest graded climb in the UK.
Please let me know if you are able to attend, whether you think you’ll be there the whole day and if you will have room in your car to give someone a lift.
If transport is an issue for you let me know and we’ll sort out a lift.

aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions and involvement.”
